It's Nall in the Mix...

Today is Wednesday, February 22

It's been a while since I checked in with ya, so let's see what has been going on around LIRCo...

On the Recording School side of things, new classes have started and the new students are picking things up just fine. It can be a little intimidating at first (if you have never done any mixing), but if you keep at it, it gets easier and easier!

Speaking of new things, our Analog classroom has just been overhauled with the addition of a new mixing console, the Yamaha IM8-24! It is a 24 track/8 bus board with 8 aux sends, so it is handling our outboard gear with room to spare! The EQ sounds great and we have had a great time breaking it in with the new students.

And of course, with the coming of the freshman class, we must say goodbye to our graduating senior students. Graduation is next month, and all the students have done great. It was a pleasure to teach them and we wish them all the best as they leave the halls of LSRA and venture out into the recording world to make their mark on the music business!

And as for the studio side of the business...

Nashville may be the mecca of country music, but we're slowly winning them over up here in KY. A few months back a group of musicians (that normally play house band gigs at famous venues like Tootsies Orchid Lounge) got together to lay down some demo tracks, and they chose LIRCo as the place to do it. Considering all the great studios in Nashville, that is quite a compliment! We got 5 songs mostly finished with the guys before they had to go, and I can't wait to finish up the project when they get the chance to come back!

LIR Records own Luk Nichols and the Other Side of Midnight have been out touring the country in support of their CD, Lookin' For The Morning, and have already started cutting demo tracks for their next release that should be out later this year.

Sister vocal duo Amber and Summer Locklear have been in and out of the studio for a few months now working on their first project. As I write this, the tracking is finished and the mixing is nearly done as well. The mastering should be finished in a few weeks, so be on the lookout for this up and coming act.

Keyboardist Kory Caudill, also known around the Nashville scene, was back in town to cut some more tracks for his next solo offering. These sessions have taken a little longer than most to complete, since Kory (and his band) has a "day job" on the road with country music star Justin Moore. When he sees an opening in the tour schedule, he gives us a call a week or so in advance, and we set it up!

Local rapper Jai has been coming in for the past month or so getting the mixing and mastering of his latest projects finished, and we only have a few more to go before he is out the door and ready for duplication!

Well, that's it for now. Don't forget that you are welcome to stop by and tour our facilities anytime. Just give us a call at 859-335-8440 (if you're local) or TOLL FREE at 877-335-8440 to set it up, so we can give you the ultimate LIRCo experience. See ya next time!!!
