Hello everybody! I know it seems like forever since I last got on here to give you an update, and once again I find myself apologizing for that fact. With all the crazy stuff going on, I just lose track of time and usually have to be reminded that I need to update! So what's been happening? Well, let's see...
Not only has the CD for LIR artists Mother Jane (http://motherjane.com) been selling great, but we have begun work on a follow up that should be finished this summer/fall. It is going to be a mixture of covers and originals. The sessions have been going extremely smooth (as always) with myself at the boards, along with assistant Eric Rolph, and once again LIR engineer/producer Amber Sloan is manning the helm making sure things stay on course. We've already got @10 songs finished musically with almost half of them vocally in the can as well. This is almost TOO easy!
The City (http://thecityband.com) are getting ready to come back in for a few weeks to re-cut some tracks for their upcoming release with myself running the board (mostly) and Michael Thomas producing to make sure everything comes together easily.
Local rock band Half Past Sundown piled in for a day a few weeks ago to lay down a couple of tracks.. The sessions came out nicely considering that tracking and the final mix all took place in 6 hours! Hopefully they'll be back soon and we can spend a little more time on the next few songs.
The German (that's right, as in Germany) fire clothing company (for Firemen - boots specifically) Haix booked some time recently to lay down the theme song for their new North American campaign. The song is a rockin' slab of 80's style hard rock that I think fits the image nicely. In the near future we are joining forces with them once again to shoot a video to accompany the song on our sound stage and green screen areas.
Speaking of videos, the sound stage/ green screen areas have been getting quite a workout lately. We've shot videos for local rapper Jaii and a few episodes of Kentucky Voices, a local show that highlights people in the community.
We also went off the reservation and shot some video for Mother Jane in the local nightspot, Natasha's, here in downtown Lexington. The shoot went great with a very enthusiastic crowd, and plans have been made to add some more controlled shots to the video here at LIRCo soon.
The stage was also used recently to shoot another video for LIR artist Tee Dee Young and his band Scandalous (http://teedeeyoung.com). The shoot used many of our LSRA video students and should be edited and ready for viewing on Tee Dee's site shortly.
The school is growing by leaps and bounds and I am proud to announce that the live video and soundstage wing of LSRA is complete and is being used daily. We have a huge stage with tons of lighting for our Stage Sound and Lighting courses as well as a great green screen area for the newly begun Video course. Add in the Producer training, Music Theory classes and the AE II and mastering courses and you can see that there is a lot more to offer than just simple studio engineering. It all comes together to give you a more full view of the entertainment industry and that no matter what you love to do within the entertainment fields, there is a place for you here at LSRA.
Well, that's it for now. Don't forget that you are welcome to stop by and tour our facilities anytime. Just give us a call at 859-335-8440 (if you're local) or TOLL FREE at 877-335-8440 to set it up, so we can give you the ultimate LIRCo experience. See ya next time!!!
