06.02.06 Hello everyone! It's me - Steve (the main engineer 'round these parts), and I'm here to give you the rundown on what's been happening at LIRCo lately. I know it's been a while since the last time we talked, but as you'll see we've been pretty busy. But enough talkin, let's get rolling!
Rapper Kobi Keyes was back in the studio this past month using Studios A and B to lay down tracks for a future release. Kobi has put down 5 tracks now, and we're expecting more from him soon. Kobi isn't the only rapper hittin' us up tho... ![]() Louisville Folk/Roots musician Paul Moffitt has been coming in for pre-production for his next CD. Paul is also the man behind the Louisville Music News, so check 'em out when you're surfing the net for some good local music. Paul will be coming in the studio for the next few months, so I'll keep you posted on how the sessions are going. Local Artist Matt Steele also came in last month with his band to cut their new demo single. The session went good and hopefully we'll get to work with Matt again soon. Newly graduated student Liz Okeson brought in her band, Chord of 3, to cut a demo single as did another recent LRS grad Adam Marcum. Both projects went well and the students got some real world training without all the real world pressure of a paying session. The BIG thing to hit LIRS this past month was the Somerset Middle School Band. And by big I mean over 40 players at one time BIG! Combined with some seasoned pros, the kids worked for a couple of hours and we came out with a great product for them. It was a great session to get the recording students involved in, with the amount of people and mics all over the place. They got to see that on any day of the week, a studio engineer has to be ready for more than just your average rock band to walk through the door.
Speaking of the Recording School, we've had a whirlwind of students coming AND going! I'd like to now officially say hello to the many, many new faces... Jim Foxx, Nick Mercurio, Joe Royer, Trey Naron, Clarence Sullivan, Jesse Janicke, David Koening, Bo Larimore, Wes McKee, Brian Cunningham, Jason Dixon, James Shearer III, Tommy Potts, Martin Rivers, Johnny Dawson, Chris Walker, Jameson Stemen, Travis Petty, Lou Calhoun, Adam Rucker, Wes Meek and Joe Clark. WHEW!! I know some of you students reading this have been here for a while, but I still wanted to say it. Keep up the good work! And to the mass of recently graduated students about to set the world afire with their vast knowledge of audio engineering, I say farewell. I hope that you had a fun and educational time here working with us and I know that you'll all do great in the field. Now I know YOU know who you are, but there's something to be said for public recognition, so for the rest of the world, here's the list... Jon Mattingly, Adam Marcum, Cory Cooper, Jeremy Draper, Sharon Bowman, Elliot Fowler, William Snyder, Michael Wilson, Liz Okeson, Brandon Washington, Ryan Prendergast and Paul Douglas. Congratulations to you all! Well, that's it! I told you it was a lot of action! But around here we wouldnt want it any other way. Dont forget that you are welcome to stop by and tour our facilities anytime. Just give us a call at 859-335-8440 (if you're local) or TOLL FREE at 877-335-8440 to set it up, so we can give you the ultimate LIRCo experience. That's all I've got for now. Check back next time when I'll continue to give you the inside track on all the happenings here at Long Island. Steve Nall |
