It's Nall in the Mix...

Today is Wednesday, March 10

Hello everyone and welcome back to Nall In The Mix. It's been a few months since last we met, so let’s jump in and see what's new.

Things have been moving along steadily since our last meeting and the Much Is Given project is finally finished and ready to be sent to duplication. I’ve been working on this session for over 6 months, and I can easily say I think it’s my best overall work to date. Now all that’s left is to put it out there and let the band do the rest!

Lexington based group The City have been coming in for the past few months doing pre-production sessions and starting this weekend, will begin tracking the basics for 5-8 songs. With a band that includes horns, congas, harmonica, back-up singers and the standard guitar, bass and drums, it looks like it’s going to be some pretty full days of recording! The sessions look to go into August before any mixing can begin, so I will keep you informed as the tracks take shape.

The Mother Jane sessions finished quickly and easily (as I thought they would) and after mastering, the group decided on 6 of the final mixes to be included on the demo disc. They will be back in the near future to begin work on a full length CD and Amber will be at the helm for the project.

The recording school is going strong with new students coming in every month, and we have just begun work with a new batch of full time students. The additional courses, such as the Theory classes and the Waves Certification course, are becoming very popular with our advanced engineering students and although there are technically less students in the school at the moment, more are staying for the advanced classes, so it’s actually better for everyone. In this format, we have a better chance to get to know the students and really help them achieve their goals, whether it be engineering, mastering or producing. For the full time students, being here everyday, all day can be a little tiring, but the ability to work a full 8 hours each day instead of 4 or 5 hours every few days really helps ingrain the ins and outs of digital mixing and editing.

Well, that’s it for now. Don’t forget that you are welcome to stop by and tour our facilities anytime. Just give us a call at 859-335-8440 (if you're local) or TOLL FREE at 877-335-8440 to set it up, so we can give you the ultimate LIRCo experience. See ya next time!!!
