It's Nall in the Mix...

Finalizing and Graduating

10.04.04

Hi everybody and welcome back for another look into the world of audio engineering. Quite a lot has been happening around the halls of Long Island Recording lately, and I’d like to take you on a little ride to catch you up on things.

In the studio…I am happy to announce that all the tracking for up and coming Tranquillity Records artist Chelsea Renee’s debut CD “I Love The Way” has been completed. In house engineer Erin Cheeks is working the boards for the final mixes and the master will be ready to go in just a few weeks. From just being in the studio when Erin’s mixing I can tell you this cd sounds great.

Also, Christian recording artist Mark Bryer is moving right along with the recording of his second CD with us, with most of the basic tracking and demo vocals finished. It looks like everything is on schedule and Mark is hoping for a December release.

Country artist Jensen Moore was in Studio A this month to cut some new tracks. The local band Saddletramp was also on hand to lay the backing tracks for her. The song should be completed and mixed in the next few weeks.

Long Island Records artists Partly Cloudy recently secured a deal with Ecampus.com that is going to take them around the country on a tour of our nations collage campuses in support of their latest release “State Of Mind”. The band is also in the studio finishing the recording of their new Internet single “You Know You’re Wrong”. The sessions saw myself as the main engineer with Erin assisting and In-house producer Michael Thomas overseeing the whole operation. With only a few backing vocal tracks to go, the song should be ready in the next few weeks.

On the school side…we have a lot of students finding themselves at that wonderful place called graduation this month. It’s the time when they have to decide which route to choose…live sound, studio engineering, TV. All are extremely challenging in their own ways and each student must find their calling. Recent graduates include Caleb Hall, Chris Dickens, Alex Rosen, Casey O’Grady, Alex Wright, Brian Cronin and John McDonald. The new 8 week full time semester is right around the corner, so get those applications in today!

So that’s what’s been going on with us this past month. We tend to stay pretty busy around here, but no matter how busy we are we are always willing to answer questions and/or give you a tour of our facilities, so why not give us a call and COME ON DOWN!! Until then, keep dreaming the dream and I’ll be back to give you another peak the world of a recording studio.

Steve Nall
Head Engineer, LIRS
